Our Financials
Our work of going into the world of youth, walking with them in friendship, and introducing them to the love of Jesus would not be possible without our donors. We are incredibly thankful for each generous gift we receive, and consider it our honor to steward our resources well.
Here’s how your donation helps youth in Hong Kong find hope, belonging, and purpose through the gospel.

Most of our income comes from private donations, and some from event registrations which only partially cover the costs incurred. Last year, we also received government funding through the COVID-19 Relief Subsidy Scheme.

Financial Transparency
*We commit to keeping at least three months operational expenditure in our bank account, to ensure that we are able to continue our mission without undue interruption or hardship.
All financials on this page are taken from Young Life Limited’s 2019-20 audited accounts. Our external audit is conducted by Philip Poon & Partners CPA Limited. Some of the separate expense accounts have been collapsed into the above umbrella categories for ease of understanding at a cursory look. Our fiscal year follows after Young Life, from October 1 to September 30 of the following year. All currencies are in HKD.

Staff | 同工

Young Life is nothing if not relationships. Our greatest strength is leaders who have known the extravagant love of Christ and are eager and equipped to overflow this love to the youth of this city. That’s why the bulk of our budget is for our “Staff” costs.
This allows us to support full-time field staff with not only a liveable wage in one of the world’s most expensive cities, but also the ability to maintain their own holistic health and well-being as they do the hard work of reaching kids for Christ with and for the Church.
This also allows us to support part-time operations staff who work to keep our mission running, with a heart for meaningful partnerships and sustainable growth.

Our “Program” costs are spent on reaching kids through time-tested methods filled with fun and adventure — Contact Work, Club, Campaigners, Camp, and Student Leadership — all with the aim of walking with youth in friendship, introducing them to Jesus, and helping them grow in their faith.

Our “Office” costs allow us to have a hub of hope in the midst of Hong Kong. When we are not meeting kids where they already are, we are gathering together to pray, plan, and prepare in our ministry teams. Our convenient location also allows us to host leadership meetings and trainings, as well as more intimate events and online programs.

Our “Fundraising” costs support our annual $5 million budget and include fostering meaningful partnerships with individuals, churches, organizations, and foundations, as well as organizing donor-centric fundraising events so that we can share the vision and increase our capacity to reach more youth for Christ in our city.

Young Life is registered as a charity in Hong Kong, and our “Administration” costs go towards our legal and professional fees, service charges, and software applications that allow us to continue and streamline our operations.

We are only able to do what we do through the generous gifts of our donors. We are so thankful for each one who has seen the need of the youth in our city and supported our mission to reach each one of them for Christ, including through these means:
Individuals: Our donors come from all walks of life — from teachers to bankers, stay at home moms to university students, pastors to entrepreneurs — and we are so thankful that God has enabled our mission to connect this diverse community in a common mission.
Monthly Giving: Regular small donations make a big impact, as they allow us to go on mission and grow it from a place of stability and sustainability.
Foundations: We actively seek support from foundations that see the value of our mission for the lives of youth in Hong Kong and the society that they live in.
Churches: Our vision is to disciple the leaders of tomorrow with and for the church, so we are thankful for the commitment of financial support from several churches in Hong Kong.
Events: These are times of connecting with donors, sharing about God’s work, and inviting more to come along and expand the mission — times infused with the fun and adventurous spirit of Young Life!
Young Life: As a part of global Young Life, we have received funding on a per initiative basis for our Global Cities Fellowship and YLU ministries.
Gifts-in-kind: We receive requested donated products and services to help lower some of our costs, especially for our YoungLives ministry and some of our Office needs.

Our activity income comes from three sources. We charge a nominal registration fee for our Camps to increase commitment and cover part of the costs incurred. We occasionally hold swag sales. We also receive a small income from sharing the use and cost of our office space rental with other charities.
